Tsavo National Park

Overview

Divided into Tsavo East and Tsavo West, this vast park is one of Kenya’s largest and offers diverse landscapes, including savannah, volcanic hills, and dramatic scenery. Tsavo is particularly famous for its large populations of elephants, often referred to as the “Red Elephants” due to the red soil in the park. In addition to elephants, the park is home to lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, and numerous antelope species.

Key Attractions:

Mzima Springs: A series of natural springs in Tsavo West, known for their clear waters and resident populations of hippos and Nile crocodiles. The springs are a vital water source for wildlife in the area.

Shetani Lava Flow: A unique volcanic formation in Tsavo West, offering a dramatic landscape and opportunities for exploration
